How it Works

How It Works

Buying a beef share from River Ranch Meats is a simple way to stock your freezer with premium, locally raised beef while supporting a family-owned ranch. Here's what you can expect from start to finish.

Step 1: Reserve Your Beef Share

Choose the beef share that's right for you:

  • Quarter Beef Share

  • Half Beef Share

  • Whole Beef Share

To reserve your share, place a $1,000 deposit through our website.

Your deposit secures your reservation and will be applied toward your final purchase price.

Step 2: Sign Your Ownership Agreement

After your reservation is placed, we'll send you a Livestock Co-Ownership Agreement for electronic signature.

This agreement documents your ownership interest in a live animal prior to harvest and confirms the terms of your purchase.

Please note: If the signed agreement is not received at least one week prior to the scheduled processing date, your reservation will be canceled, your deposit will be refunded, and you will not receive any beef from that processing date.

Step 3: Choose Your Beef

We'll contact you before processing to confirm your preferences.

Whole Beef Shares

If you've reserved a Whole Beef Share, you'll receive a cut sheet from our processor. This allows you to customize how your beef is packaged, including your preferences for steaks, roasts, ground beef, and other cuts.

You'll also choose between:

  • Grass-Fed & Grain-Finished

  • 100% Grass-Fed & Grass-Finished

Half & Quarter Beef Shares

If you've reserved a Half or Quarter Beef Share, you'll choose between:

  • Grass-Fed & Grain-Finished

  • 100% Grass-Fed & Grass-Finished

Because these shares are divided among multiple owners, individual custom cut sheets are not available. We use our standard processing selections to ensure each customer receives a balanced variety of premium cuts.

Step 4: Processing

Your animal is harvested and processed at a licensed processing facility.

Once processing is complete, we'll receive the final hanging (carcass) weight.

Your final purchase price is calculated using the actual hanging weight.

Pricing

Quarter Beef Share

  • $19.00 per pound (hanging weight)

Half Beef Share

  • $17.00 per pound (hanging weight)

  • Includes 2 complimentary 16 oz jars of River Ranch honey

Whole Beef Share

  • $15.00 per pound (hanging weight)

  • Includes 4 complimentary 16 oz jars of River Ranch honey

Your $1,000 deposit is credited toward your final balance.

Step 5: Final Payment

After processing, we'll send you a final invoice that includes:

  • Actual hanging weight

  • Total purchase price

  • Deposit received

  • Remaining balance due

Once the remaining balance has been paid, your beef will be ready for pickup or delivery (where available).

Raised with Care

Our cattle are raised with a commitment to quality, responsible stewardship, and humane animal care. Whether you choose Grass-Fed & Grain-Finished or 100% Grass-Fed & Grass-Finished, you'll receive premium beef raised on our family ranch.
